Okay so, this has NEVER happened to me before. My husband and I have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get everything together for our daughters first birthday party. With that being said, her invitations were a NIGHTMARE to complete.. I'm not even kidding y'all, my hand still hurts (They're finally done, can I get an amen!)
Well today as I was doing my household cleaning, I stumbled upon a pesky ink stain on my wooden dining room table! (I swear I almost had a heart attack; but don't worry, I pulled myself together) I'm not talking about something that had just happened and was a quick wipe up.. No. This bad boy had been sitting there for AT LEAST a few days.. I won't point any fingers, but my husband did it. Haha! Anyways, like any adult in todays society does, I turned to google for answers on how to get this ink stain up! (Insert "Turns out being an adult is mostly just googling how to do stuff" meme here, LOL)
Step by step, here is how I got the stain out! ^It's awful, I know.
Step one: Gather your supplies.
You'll need:
- 1 Tbsp Pure Baking Soda
- 1/2 Tbsp water
- A soft towel/rag that you don't mind getting ink on(I used Viva paper towels
- A bowl of warm water
Step two: Mix baking soda with water to make a paste, add more baking soda if needed to thicken the consistency. It should look something like this:
Step three: TEST A TINY, HIDDEN SPOT ON WHATEVER WOODEN SURFACE YOU'RE APPLYING THE PASTE TO MAKE SURE IT'S SAFE! Sorry about the caps, I don't mean to be super aggressive on y'all but this step is so important!
Step four: Once you have your paste made and have tested it on a tiny hidden area, apply it to the affected area and let sit for 15 minutes.
Step five: After the 15 minutes is up, take your rag and dip it into the warm water and rub the paste(gently) until the ink is completely off!
Step six: Wipe area clean with a new soft towel and grab your favorite wood cleaning product and polish! (We use Pledge MultiSurface on our dining room table, so thats what I used)
I will say, I had to repeat this process twice. Like I said, the ink was on the table for AT LEAST a few days.. It was so annoying, it truly didn't want to come off. And I may or may not have panicked a little bit and went a little overboard on the "elbow grease" so my table did get a little bit scratched.. But I'd rather have a tiny scratch over a giant eye sore ink stain any day!
Happy Cleaning, Y'all!
